Little Town, It's a Quiet Village: Cooperstown!: August 2006

Dear All,

As you may know, I am in Tulsa now and have been home for a week. Maybe I'll see glimmerglass again next summer. Who knows? Until then you can keep up with me at my other, regular blog, and here are a few photos from my last day there, when Adrienne and I went to the dock at the Otesaga and ate lunch and fed the ducks.

final countdown

Less than one week left before I'm back home. I feel like I'm in a frantic rush to do everything I had orginially wanted before my time runs out.

Yesterday Adrienne and I grabbed lunch at The Blue Mingo, an amazing restaurant on the water. We had to stretch our lunch break by about 30 minutes, but it was definitely worth it, and besides, who really keeps track anyway? Right? Um. RIGHT.

Adrienne was super excited to be there. W00t.

I swiped a plant off a different table because we didn't have one, and I like plants. This was some sort of herb, we think oregano, but I was all over it. It smelled amazing. I snuffled it forever. (That was for you Adrienne).

We had an amazing dessert!

It rained a few nights ago and the pond in front of the opera house was lovely.

Yesterday on my dinner break I decided to drive around and this is what I found. BEAUTIFUL:

Three Mile Point

Although I'm at work right now, waiting for some photos to print, I had the morning off. Adrienne and I have been dying for some beach time, so today we went to the gym, grabbed lunch in town, and then headed to Three Mile Point where there's a beach of sorts. As much beach as you can have when you have a lake. :) It was absolutely lovely. I think it's officially our new favorite place. Tomorrow is my day off, so we were going to go back, but I just found out I have to work for a few hours in the morning. *pouts* Here are some pics. Bests to everyone!

There were a lot of kids by the sandy areas, but we found a quiet spot in a more isolated place.

She said my hair looked pretty in the light and took a photo, but the rainbow was unplanned.

We bought some sparkling wine to bring, but we didn't have a bottle opener so, against my wishes, Adrienne decided to chomp down and try to open it. We couldn't get the top off, but about one glass-full trickled down into our plastic cups, which I surreptiously snatched from the place where we ate lunch. In the end we borrowed an opener from someone, but I applaud her effort. Some teeth that woman has.

Getting a sun tan . . .maybe?

All in all it was a lovely, sun imbued, water splashing day. I will say it again: I am going to miss this place.
